When we rent and host servers, we often hear customer service MM introduce that our servers have exclusive bandwidth, and the performance is stable and fast... What is the difference between shared bandwidth and exclusive bandwidth? This article will introduce you in detail:
Server shared bandwidth
The bandwidth sharing method means that operators will allocate certain bandwidth resources to each rack by default, and then all servers in this rack will share and use these bandwidth, regardless of the specific bandwidth usage of each server. Customers who do not have special requirements for bandwidth in small hosting services.
The advantage of using shared bandwidth is economic. For this method, the hosting fee is only priced based on the number of U of the server, and no additional bandwidth fee will be charged.
The disadvantage of using shared bandwidth is that all servers in one rack or even several racks share a certain amount of bandwidth. Depending on the application of each server, some servers will seize a relatively large amount of bandwidth, which will affect other servers. Bandwidth usage. Such bandwidth grabbing applications are generally video and download servers. Therefore, shared bandwidth can only be applied to customers who have few special requirements for bandwidth.
Server exclusive bandwidth
In medium-sized hosting services, customers have higher requirements for bandwidth. The content and nature of their websites determine that only independent bandwidth resources can be used to meet quality needs. This kind of bandwidth resource that is only used by individual customers is called exclusive bandwidth.
When using exclusive bandwidth, the entire bandwidth resource belongs to one customer, so the charge is based on the highest value of the exclusive bandwidth, not the actual usage of the customer. For example, if a customer packages a rack plus 100M of exclusive bandwidth, then even if only one server is placed in the rack provided by the customer, and even if this server only uses 1M of bandwidth, then the customer must still pay in full according to the parking fee of one rack and the bandwidth fee of 100M of exclusive bandwidth.
The advantage of exclusive bandwidth is that the amount of bandwidth can be freely used to ensure speed and network quality; the disadvantage is that it is expensive.
